Yoshiaki Tanaka’s love for Hans Wegner’s functional designs inspired him to establish his solo furniture atelier, Mokkoku, in Omiya, an hour north of Tokyo. Tanaka builds bespoke pieces (everything from tables through to sofas, chairs and shelving), from Russian oak and American black cherry. His atelier is a smart combination of an all-in-one solution; home, workspace and showroom. The ideal backdrop for Tanaka’s intimate and comforting designs, where customers are free to test out his chairs and sofas in his cosy domestic setting.
